Orange Sakura White Eye Starter Colony
๐ง Tap Water Compatible
๐ข Beginner Friendly
๐ฎ๐ช Home-bred in Cork, Ireland
๐งช Active Selective Breeding Project
Orange Sakura White Eyes (*Neocaridina davidi*) is one of our ongoing breeding projects, combining warm orange pigmentation with the unusual contrast of bright white eyes.
๐ก Many individuals already display stronger orange expression that pushes towards the Orange Sunkist phenotype.
๐ฆ Why start with 15 shrimp?
Our 15-count Breeder Colony is ideal for hobbyists who want to establish a thriving population from day one.
Starting with a larger group encourages natural behaviour, improves the likelihood of obtaining a balanced sex ratio and often results in earlier breeding activity.
๐ก For many aquariums, 15 shrimp represent the ideal balance between affordability and long-term colony success.
๐ฆ Why start with 25 shrimp?
If your goal is to establish a long-term, self-sustaining colony, this is our recommended starting point.
A larger population establishes itself faster, displays more natural behaviour and often enters stable breeding cycles sooner than smaller groups.
๐งฌ The increased numbers also provide a stronger foundation for preserving desirable traits over future generations.
๐ฑ The 25-pack is particularly well suited for larger aquascapes and hobbyists who want to establish a showcase colony from the very beginning.

๐งฌ The Story Behind Orange Sakura White Eyes
A closer look at the genetics, breeding goals and future direction of one of our active projects.
๐ The Evolutionary Roots of Neocaridina
Neocaridina davidi originates from freshwater streams, ponds and slow-moving rivers throughout East Asia.
Over thousands of years, these shrimp adapted to moderately hard, mineral-rich waters and developed remarkable resilience to environmental fluctuations.
๐ก This natural adaptability is one of the reasons Neocaridina thrive so well in established tap water aquariums.
๐ก What Makes This Line Special?
Orange Sakura White Eyes combines two attractive traits:
๐ Warm orange body pigmentation
โช Bright white eyes
The contrast creates a very distinctive appearance that immediately stands out in planted aquariums.
๐งช An Active Breeding Project
Unlike some of our more established lines, this project is still actively evolving.
Our long-term goal is to gradually push this line towards a stronger Orange Sunkist-like phenotype while retaining the unusual white eye mutation.
Many individuals already display deeper orange saturation than traditional Orange Sakura shrimp.
Over successive generations, we continue selecting for:
โ Stronger orange pigmentation
โ Improved colour consistency
โ Stable white eye expression
โ Robust health
๐ก Aquarium Recommendations
Orange Sakura White Eyes thrive in:
๐ฑ Mature planted aquariums
๐ชจ Dark substrates
๐ง Stable tap water parameters
๐ฆ Established biological filtration
๐ก Green plants provide excellent contrast and help their warm orange tones stand out.
