Blue Black Dotted Carbon Rili - Dalmatian
๐ง Tap Water Compatible

๐งฌ Experimental Breeding Project
Blue Black Dotted Carbon Rili โ Dalmatian (*Neocaridina davidi*) is one of our newest and most unusual projects, combining translucent body sections with a beautiful random pattern of blue and black spotting.
๐จ No two individuals are exactly alike. Every shrimp develops its own unique arrangement of dots, patches and markings, giving the colony a true "Dalmatian" appearance.
๐งช We are currently working on establishing and stabilising this line from a very small founder population.
This project is still in its early stages and will continue evolving over future generations.

๐งฌ The Story Behind Blue Black Dotted Carbon Rili โ Dalmatian
A closer look at one of our most experimental breeding projects.
๐ The Evolutionary Roots of Neocaridina
Neocaridina davidi originates from freshwater streams, ponds and slow-moving rivers throughout East Asia.
Over thousands of years, these shrimp adapted to moderately hard, mineral-rich waters and developed remarkable resilience to environmental fluctuations.
๐ก This natural adaptability is one of the reasons Neocaridina thrive so well in established tap water aquariums.
๐จ What Makes This Line Special?
Unlike traditional colour lines that focus on a single dominant colour, this project celebrates variation.
Each shrimp develops its own combination of:
๐ต Blue speckles
โซ Black spots
๐ค Translucent body sections
โจ Carbon Rili patterning
No two individuals are identical.
This randomness is precisely what makes the line so appealing.
๐งช An Experimental Project
This line is currently being established from a very small founder population.
Our goal is not to create identical clones, but to stabilise a recognisable "Dalmatian" phenotype while preserving strong health and genetic diversity.
Over future generations we will selectively breed for:
โ Strong blue spotting
โ Distinct black markings
โ Balanced translucency
โ Healthy body structure
โ Long-term stability
๐ฑ An Interesting Observation
One particularly interesting observation we've made so far involves colour development.
Some individuals initially arrived with very translucent midsections.
After settling into established aquariums and receiving a diet supplemented with spirulina powder, several shrimp developed noticeably stronger blue pigmentation.
๐ฌ While it's too early to draw firm conclusions, dietary carotenoids and natural pigments may influence colour intensity in this line.
This is something we will continue monitoring as the project develops.
๐ก Aquarium Recommendations
Blue Black Dotted Carbon Rili โ Dalmatian thrives in:
๐ฑ Mature planted aquariums
๐ชจ Dark substrates
๐ง Stable tap water parameters
๐ฆ Established biological filtration
๐ก Darker backgrounds help the blue spotting stand out beautifully.
